Today we have an article by Jonathan Curran about how Motivation is the way to change the way you think and behave.

Summary

At some stage of our life, we all have set a goal for our self and lost the drive for it halfway through. It is the path that matters more than the destination where we are headed to. The person with whom we all spend the maximum time in life is ourselves, so the better we make ourselves the more interesting the journey will be.

Body

It is commonly seen that people around us are concentrating more on the present and immediate future, than worrying about where we are headed in the journey of life. Life has become so unpredictable that tomorrow might bring a hornets’ nest right to our doorstep, for all we know.

Direction is also very critical for people who are today in a state of despair and need to concentrate on getting out of it and moving on. Motivation is like our inbuilt shield against the inner voice that calls us a loser and constantly tells us to give up. The power of motivation urges us to learn from our mistakes and push ourselves to build a better future.

In every aspect of life, be it students or adults, we need motivation to get out of the shell of self-deceit. Here have how we can use motivation is different aspects of life, and turn around our thoughts and also the way we behave:

1. Teacher’s Motivation and Its Impact upon Students

Teachers play a very pivotal role in all our lives. They can actually design the blue print of a student’s life or break it beyond repair. We all have heard endless stories of how a strong relationship between the pupil and the teacher, helped a student in finding his ground and recognizing his dreams. A good teacher will take responsibility of motivating the child both inside and outside the class room. They teach them life lessons, which help them grow into fine adults. A good teacher can motivate by-

  • Education- he or she can make learning a stimulating activity and the environment of the class room exciting for better learning and motivation.
  • Inspiration- inspiring a student to do well or to recognize his potential is an integral part of a teacher’s job. Inspired students achieve amazing feats and that motivation keeps them going for life.
  • Mentors- teachers are role models for children and they follow them blindly at times. They are able to provide them with the right guidance to take the important decisions in life. A good teacher can identify a struggling student and motivate him to do well.

2. Motivation in Our Relationships

All our relationships affect our sanity in some way or the other. Even the cashier at the grocery store affects our feelings about our own self. A useless fight or a nasty comment to a fellow human being nags most of us at the back of our minds for days together. Some of us do something about it others choose o forget and move on. But it definitely eats away a small chunk of the peace in our minds. So if a little incident can have such long term implications, isn’t it important to take care of all those support us daily. The motivation is too make yourself and the people around you happy, in order to buy inner peace.

3. Stamping Down Loneliness with Self-Motivation

Look around and we will see each one of us struggling to stay motivated. Some might want to stick to their diets, others to lose weight and some to quit smoking. We all feel lonely and desolate in our struggle to stay motivated. The fact of the matter is that motivating your inner self to make a new start or to bring about a new change in your life is a big deal. With the right approach and realistic goals it is achievable. Meticulous planning, a real approach to the situation and a stick to it no matter what attitude, will keep you motivated.

4. Know Your Target and Try Hard To Meet Them

Most psychiatrist advice that it helps to make a list of things you need, you want and you won’t mind having. The major goal in every individual is that ultimate thing they would like to make happen. I want to make it to the Olympic Team; I want to lose two dress sizes or I want to quit drinking are all examples of major goals. Some goals take a long time, others less, but the important thing is to dream. And it’s perfectly fine to dream BIG. Most successful leaders in the human history have dreamt big and then worked hard to achieve them. It always helps to a have a specific target than a vague one. Just to get fit is a vague target, but to lose say 30 pounds is a real target. Every night before going to sleep we should remind ourselves of our target and wake up more motivated to achieve it, no matter what.

Set your self goal that you can reach. Break then down into little step. When you reach a goal thank yourself by how well you have done.
