My View of autism by Anmol Singh

Today’s article is from 25-year-old Anmol Singh. He wrote an article for this blog last year too. At the time he hadn’t been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum but believed he likely was. Now he has been diagnosed and wanted to share this on my page. You can read his blog post from last year here. I found that today’s article had some very relatable things for me, especially when he mentioned that he’s not always known how to react when friends are kidding, etc.
Hello everyone, My name is Anmol Singh and today I wanted to express my view on autism and how I really understand it.
I would like to thank my friend Alex Lowery for allowing me to put a post on this wonderful page about autism.
Autism is a concept in mental health whereby a person’s understanding of things, processing of information and behaviour is differently abled. I was diagnosed on the autism spectrum back in the month of May 2022. I was told to be having some traits of Aspergers Syndrome which I predicted back in advance and so did my dear friend Alex Lowery. Sudden headaches from High volume of music, loud noise and the ability to observe things from a precision by neck movements were some of the unusual behaviour delivered to me varying by the environment my way of processing by just viewing an object around me seemed to be different and it reflected a completely different meaning.
Common human behaviour like that of kidding amongst friends, pulling pranks, and verbally abusive language felt like absurd and uneducated behaviour and even now as well.
While the panic and anxiety attacks continue every day, it feels worse than heck when the past experiences reverberate in my mind.
Being on the autism spectrum is neither a matter of shame nor a sign of dullness, it’s just a unique feeling in itself. It can be inherited or from external factors.
However, helping someone in a dilemma is really a kind and sweet thing one can do. Therefore, to everyone reading this, never judge someone on the basis of a person’s actions but after knowing the complete scenario.
