Is Wednesday Addams autistic?
Written on 2nd Nov 2023 by Alex Lowery
There has been a lot of speculation that Wednesday Addams from the fairly new Netflix series ‘Wednesday’ (along with the original Addams Family show from the 1960s and more) is on the autism spectrum. I saw the show recently and I really loved it. I was honestly hooked.
I also thought Wednesday Addams was a really great character and strongly carried the show. Speaking as an autistic person: I can definitely identify traits of autism in Wednesdays. The director of the Netflix series was Tim Burton and he is said to be be on the autism spectrum himself. He has said that he also was able to relate to Wednesday .

There is no confirmation as to whether or not Wednesday Addams is autistic, but it’s certainly fun to speculate even if it wasn’t the original intent. Wednesday does not like to be touched by most people. When people go to hug her she shows a big discomfort. This is common for autistic people and it’s also something I myself identify with. It’s also quite obvious that she doesn’t always understand other people’s emotions or point of view which is a very classic autistic characteristic. She also tends to use very blank facial expressions and quite a monotone voice.
What do you think? Do you think Wednesday could be on the spectrum?
