Autism words everyone should know

1. N.T. – Stands for Neuro-typical. This refers to all those who are not blessed with autism. These poor individuals only have a brain that works like everybody else.
2. Stimming – This refers to the special movements like rocking, spinning, whooping and flapping. A great way to process and de-stress, a practise not understood by most N.T.’s.
3. Aspie – A slang word for those who have the higher functioning form of autism called Aspergers. It is best not to use this slang unless you have autism.
4. Autie – This refers to those with regular autism. Again for a term only to be used by those with ASC.

stimming can also be with an item, a piece of own clothing or a bit of string. I have also meet a few people who chew paper, not eating it.
You’re thinking of me aren’t you?
My 7yr old (Aspie) rocks from side to side. He has a new one now, he hums. Not a tuneful hum, just a short noise. Funnily enough, I did the same thing at his age.
I often um as well, but I think I usually do a tuneful hum.
