10 ways you can raise awareness of autism
Written on 11th Apr 2014 by Sylvia Lowery
April is autism awareness month. Here are 10 ways in which you can raise awareness.

1. Talk to your friends – take time to explain autism to those you know.
2. Make it personal – share how autism affects you or a family member.
3. A little and often – don’t give too much information at once. Share little bits and keep adding to the knowledge.
4. Listen to your friends – If you are interested in their life they will be interested in your life.
5. Speak to thise who don’t know much about autism – it’s easy to have a long conversation with someone who already knows a lot about autism. Find ways to share your story with those who don’t know that much about it.
6. Use your talents to raise awareness – if you are good at art or music use your gift to get the message across.
7. Focus of the positives but don’t hide the difficulties.
8. Accept that people don’t understand and don’t mean to make life hard for those on the spectrum.
9. Use social media – get your story out there.
10. Embrace autism yourself see the rainbow in the cloud.

I do sometime get carried away when talking to people about Autism. All my family are aware of it.
Me too:)
