Yes it is much better to give someone the skill to do it for themselves than to keep doing it. I have meet a person some time ago who support work was asked by a social worker to give the young man some more independent skills. the support worker was shock that after just a few time of help the person who had autism could do to skill by himself. which then encouraged her to teach him more. with success.
